On June 21 – the longest day of the year – United Ways across the country will be participating in a nationwide Day of Action. With more daylight hours than any other, June 21 is the perfect day to let actions speak louder than words. It’s the perfect way to show, by example, what it means to LIVE UNITED.
According to UW Worldwide: "We will declare our intention to improve lives in measurable and lasting ways by mobilizing thousands of people around a common goal: advancing the common good by focusing on education, income and health. These are the building blocks for a good life — a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health."
We would appreciate feedback and ideas on how the United Way of Illinois Valley can take part in this national program. United Way Worldwide requests that EVERY United Way take part in the Day of Action. Now is the time to start planning - and that is why we are asking for suggestions. Below are some ideas used in other areas. Read the list and see if anything captures your attention.
We are looking for chairmen and volunteers - will you and/or your group be able to help? Give us a call at 815 223-8339 or send us an email at jan.liveunited@sbcglobal.net We look forward to hearing from you!
